So a different kind of post this time, today i will write about the experience i had with my lumia 720 i switched from nokia c3 so pretty much a nokia fan. So is it good or bad? My answer is BAD.
Q. So why is it bad? 1st things that comes up apps. But i would say no it has got enough apps for u to get ur job done. So what's bad this time around, i would say the execution of the product, ahh u must be saying what i want to say so here it is what's bad in nokia lumia 720 windows phone 8:-
1. Problem with play list:- Initially when ever i add songs to my phone through my computer what happens is that i get a single song repeating itself for about 6-7 times pretty irritating for me. Got the solution by going into my music folder and creating another folder and copying the songs in that folder. Fixed, but this thing pissed me off for more than a month. Same issue with the videos.
2. Servicing:- Within 20 day my phone died, went to Nokia care and the installed the software fine pretty happy phone is all good but lost my data. Within few days I found out my phones performance was letting me down, wrote to nokia got a call to submit my phone to Nokia care. Went over their but those guys didn't seem to understand my problem. I was amazed by the fact that I asked them that temple run seems to lag and those guys reacted as of they dont know what lag is. Completely shocked! Any how they took the phone and said they will do a software reset. They did the reset and gave it to me my phones performance. Was good again 1 interesting fact no jobsheet was made. Went home after a week or 2 got issues with the SD card, this is when nokia pissed me off. They said get the amber update and issue will be fixed I said do it made a jobsheet of SD card,not working. The guy handed me the phone after the update and I refused to accept the phone because SD card was not functioning and the guy told me he would have to open the phone and their could be minor cracks on the upper corner of the phone I said get my phone working. Fixed the issue but the body was cracked far more that my expectation also showed them the body that they cracked it and they said that its not an issue. I said dont complaint the next time that the body OS cracked and they said that it wont be a issue. Within a week got a SD card issue again went to nokia and nokia said its out of warrenty and you must buy a back panel to get your phone working in warranty again for a price or Rs 3200. Came back home and wrote mails to Nokia made calls after few weeks got a answer that my phone wont be covered in warranty. When asked how did they judged that the phone was damaged by me and not nokia care and got a answer that after conversation with their Nokia care employed(my foot, I was furious that without even having a look at my phone Nokia executives concluded it.). Any how sent the pictures of the cracks on my Lumia 720 body and its clear from that someone has forced opened the panel which I say were Nokia employed and they say the phone has taken a fall.
3.Format support-: Their is no support for formats like flv and mkv. Although their is a player now called yxplayer that does players it but is priced at around 235rs. Haven't tried it because of the pricing and bad reviews. I think we cannot fast forward a video.
4. Smart lock-: All windows phone have is a password at lock screen or kids corner. I cann't put a password on my messages or lock my apps, will ditch my windows phone, if i don't get it soon.
5. Sync email problems-: My Lumia 720 doesn't sync my emails from gmail. It does it from Hotmail but not gmail
6. Games:- Lack of good games for a 512mb device is a huge issue for me even their are not much for 1 gb devices. Only games I play are temple run(crashes like hell), angry bird and world cricket.
7. Apps:- Although windows phone store has developed a lot but still it fails to fulfill everything i desire
8. Hang and crash:- 1 big thing that Microsoft brags about windows phone is that its super-fast and doesn't hangs or crashes but my experience says that it does hangs a bit of course not like android but man apps crashes like hell.
9. City lens:- One of the biggest reason why I bought Nokia this time. But in Jalandhar a city in Punjab the city lens app is not at all accurate. Was a huge disappointment for me.
10. Privacy:- If you are a windows 8 user expect your friends to read half of your messages because text messages pops up at the top along with the persons name and some amount of the matter that it contains.
11. Issues with internet connectivity after amber update:- While using internet on my mobile through GPRS my phone leaves the connection in between and I have to reconnect. Also saw the same problem on my friends Lumia 625 and every-time he goes to the service center they just reset.
12. Volume issues:- Their are no plenty of issues with the volume. Their are no options to control the volume for media player. And sometimes the phone fails to pick that whether it has to reduce the volume for its profile or music player. You will need to restart your phone if it does that.
13. No call recording app:- I haven't yet figured out a app to record calls in my Lumia 720. If their is 1 do let me know. Their was 1 for windows 7 but not for windows 8
14. No proper file manager.
15. Placement of the calling mic is also an issue for me as if i lay down on my bed and speak at a normal voice. The other person hears my voice with some difficulties.
16. No equaliser for loud speaker. Only available for head phones.
17. Kids corner:- The biggest joke in lumia is kids corner. Its so easy to crack its security. Play a gave with anykind of a advertisement and you can get access to internet with easy
Whats good in Lumia 720:-
1. Camera
2. Maps
3. Screen quality
4. Battery backup
5. Music (didn't wanted to say it because now the subscription is for a limited time afterwards you have to buy it).
My conclusion is Lumia 720 is a great phone but only if you want it for camera, maps and a decent battery life in this price tag. Otherwise don't experiment and go for Android. And I wont recomend apple because of its price and if it falls then God bless you.
